SUMMER SPIRITUAL DROUGHT?

Alice Cooper, a 70s rock star, sang "School's out for summer, schools out for summer!" School is out, the weather is warm, family vacations fill the summer calendar, baseball, swimming, fishing, mountain climbing, and back yard bar-b-ques compete for those summer days. Most people look forward to summer; but, not everyone...

One group that does not enjoy summer is the church. Attendance goes down, home groups stop meeting, offerings drop with fewer people in the pews...as if we can, or should, put our spiritual well being on summer vacation. So, how can you prevent a spiritual drought this summer? Stay in the Word of God. Decide your summer Bible reading plan and get between the covers each day this summer. If you don't have a summer Bible reading plan, you won't stay in the Bible this summer. If you need one, drop in on the Ezra Project home page each first day of the month and print the Read with Ezra monthly Bible reading plan. Or, on the home page, click on from your laptop or smart phone, and follow the daily Bible reading passage right there!

Take your Bible with you on summer vacation and stay connected to God this summer. Miss church, miss your home group, but don't miss the Lord, Who shows up every day in His Word. Psalm 32:4 reminds us, "For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my vitality was turned into the drought of summer." Don't let it happen to you this summer! Stay daily connected to God's Word!

Closing the gap between God's people and God's Word,
